About Air
Air is a 49.9 meter (164 foot) motor yacht, delivered in 1998 from the Benetti yard in Viareggio as one of seven sisterships in the builder’s Golden Bay series. She previously sailed as Queen M and QM of London. Her interior comes from English designer Terence Disdale, while naval architect Stefano Natucci drew the exterior lines. Air sleeps as many as 12 charter guests and carries a crew of 11, a staffing ratio that puts her among the better-crewed options in the 50 meter motor yacht charter bracket.
Her decks connect easily between indoor and outdoor areas, which keeps groups together rather than splitting them across separate zones. Air has had an interior refit since her original delivery, so her guest spaces read more current than her build year alone would suggest. Natucci’s exterior gives her a lower, more rakish profile than many contemporaries from the same era. For charterers weighing an established, well-proven motor yacht against a newer build, Air’s roomy cabin mix and full crew remain her strongest selling points.
Guest Accommodation
Guests sleep across seven cabins: one master suite, a pair of VIP staterooms, a double, and three twins, split between 1 king bed, 2 queens, 1 double, and 6 singles for 10 total berths. The spread works for couples who want the VIP rooms to themselves as easily as it does for a larger family or group of friends splitting the twins, a configuration worth bookmarking for anyone comparing how many guests different yacht sizes can sleep.
Eleven crew run the charter day to day, from the bridge down to service and galley staff. Charterers new to a yacht this size may want to read up on typical crew roles aboard a charter yacht before their first week aboard.
Onboard Amenities
Onboard, the amenity list stays functional instead of flashy: a fully equipped gym for guests keeping a routine going mid-charter, and a deck jacuzzi for winding down afterward. Wi-Fi and air conditioning run throughout the yacht, covering the two things that matter most on a week-plus charter regardless of destination. Combined with her cabin and crew numbers, that’s enough to make Air a comfortable base for an extended stay aboard.
Performance & Range
A steel hull and twin MTU diesels put Air’s cruising speed around 12 knots, with a top end somewhere between 17 and 18 knots depending on the source consulted. At cruising speed her roughly 82,900 liter fuel tanks give her a range near 3,800 nautical miles, and stabilizers keep the roll down whether she’s anchored or underway. Those numbers point to an easy long-haul cruiser rather than a yacht built to sprint between stops.
Toys & Water Equipment
For watersports, Air leans heavily on powered toys: a pair of Zapata Racing Flyboards headline the lineup for anyone wanting to try jetpack-style flying over the water. Certified divers have a dive compressor and full scuba kit at their disposal, and a 5.7 meter slide drops guests from the sun deck straight into the sea.
- Two Zapata Racing Flyboards
- Dive compressor with scuba gear
- 5.7 meter sun deck waterslide
- Jet skis
- Towables and water skis
- Kite surfer
- Seabob
- Two tenders, led by a 5.6 meter (18 foot) Castoldi Jet Tender
