About Asolare
Asolare is a 47.2m/154’8″ sailing yacht built by Hodgdon Yachts in Maine and launched in 2003, with naval architecture by Bruce King and interior and exterior styling by Andrew Winch. She was previously named Scheherazade, a name she shares only in passing with the much larger, unrelated motor yacht of the same former name; the two vessels have no connection beyond that coincidence. Constructed in cold-molded wood, Asolare sleeps six charter guests across three cabins and carries a crew of six for a sailing yacht charter that pairs genuine performance sailing with a quietly refined interior.
Guest Accommodation
Asolare sleeps up to six guests in three cabins total, a layout that keeps her well suited to a family group or two couples travelling together, not a larger party. Some broker listings cite guest numbers as high as 7 or 8, but these appear to be inconsistencies on individual rate-panel templates, not evidence of an alternate configuration; six guests across three cabins is the figure that is consistently confirmed.
A crew of 6 looks after guests throughout the charter, a generous ratio for a yacht of this size that reflects her background as a serious offshore sailing vessel as much as a charter yacht.
Onboard Amenities
Each guest cabin is fitted with its own small office area, a distinctive detail rarely found on a sailing yacht of this size and a sign of how deliberately Asolare was built for extended use rather than short coastal hops. The owner’s suite opens onto a private aft cockpit seating area, giving the principal guest a quiet outdoor space separate from the main deck. Guests stay connected via satellite communications and onboard Wi-Fi during the charter, and the interior stays comfortable year-round thanks to full air conditioning.

Cruising Performance
Her cold-molded wood-and-epoxy construction, used for both hull and superstructure, was marketed by her builder as making her the largest cold-molded sailing yacht afloat at the time of her delivery, a technique chosen for the combination of light weight and strength it offers over a vessel of this length. She cruises comfortably at 11 knots. Asolare splits her charter season between the West Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean and Bahamas in winter, a dual-season programme that gives charter guests a genuine choice of cruising grounds instead of a single fixed itinerary.
Toys & Water Equipment
A specific, itemised toy inventory was not available for Asolare at the time of writing. Guests planning a charter should confirm the current water toy and tender selection with the booking broker, though a yacht of this size and pedigree can typically be expected to carry at least one tender for shore transfers.
