About Drumbeat
Drumbeat is a 53-meter (173-foot) performance sailing yacht built in 2002 by Alloy Yachts in New Zealand, with naval architecture by Ed Dubois and interior styling by the yard itself. Launched under the name Salperton, she was refitted in 2019 and now charters as Drumbeat, central-agented by Y.CO.
Her racing pedigree sets her apart from most charter sailing yachts her size: Drumbeat won the 2005 Rolex Transatlantic Challenge. A single-level layout runs from the cockpit through the salon and dining area, a deliberate design choice that keeps the social spaces connected rather than split across decks.
Drumbeat spends her summer charter season cruising the Croatia coast.
In winter she relocates to the Caribbean, a genuine dual-destination rotation rather than a single cruising ground.
Guest Accommodation
Five cabins sleep 10 guests on Drumbeat, headed by a full-beam owner’s cabin running the width of the yacht, fitted with a king bed, separate closet space and its own bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The remaining layout splits into a pair of doubles, each with its own small seating corner, plus two twins; one twin carries a Pullman berth that lifts the total to 11 when a family needs the extra bed.
A crew of 10 runs the yacht, a ratio that reflects her build-era priority on dedicated, ensuite crew accommodation rather than a bare-minimum complement.
Onboard Amenities
The full-beam saloon carries dual lounging zones and a dining area, with a forward office and study tucked off to one side, useful for guests combining a charter with remote work. A 122-inch screen anchors the saloon, with 33-inch screens fitted in each cabin, and Bose sound runs throughout.
Wi-Fi is provided via Starlink alongside 4G/5G backup, teak decks run the length of the yacht, and a convertible transom opens into a beach-club swim platform. A flybridge lounge adds a second outdoor social space above the main deck.

Cruising Performance
Her hull and superstructure are both aluminium, and a single Caterpillar diesel gets her to a 10-knot cruise, topping out around 14 knots. Fuel capacity supports a reported range near 8,000 nautical miles, enough for the ocean crossings her Mediterranean-Caribbean rotation requires.
Two Northern Lights generators, rated at 104kW each, cover the hotel load when the main engine is shut down at anchor, standard equipment for a yacht that spends as much time anchored off a Croatian cove as it does underway.
Toys & Water Equipment
A 6.2-meter Castoldi jet tender and a smaller 4.7-meter Cormorant crew tender handle transfers. For guests who want to get on the water themselves, the toy locker runs to two Topaz sailing dinghies with multiple sail sets, two underwater scooters, two Yamaha sea scooters, kayaks, a windsurfer and inflatable stand-up paddleboards.
Wakeboards, waterskis and inflatable towable donuts round out the watersports inventory, with snorkelling equipment for up to 20 guests, fishing gear, and rendezvous scuba diving equipment for 6.
