About Houbara
Houbara is a 23.99-meter (79-foot) sailing catamaran built by Sunreef Yachts in 2012, with a refit completed in 2024. Her base port is Olbia on Sardinia’s northeast coast, and she spends her charter season moving across the western Mediterranean, taking in Italy, the French Riviera, Corsica, and Sardinia’s own cruising grounds. Up to 6 guests sail aboard in 3 cabins, looked after by a crew of 3.
Her double-deck layout sets her apart from a typical sailing catamaran of this size. A mezzanine lounge with its own open bar sits between decks, so guests socializing before dinner don’t need to crowd into the galley area. The cockpit carries a dining table that seats up to 8, giving groups room for proper sit-down meals rather than squeezing around a cramped table.
Guest Accommodation
Houbara sleeps 6 guests across 3 en-suite cabins: a master cabin with its own jacuzzi, a queen cabin, and a twin cabin that converts to a double with an additional Pullman berth for a seventh guest if needed. Large windows throughout the cabins work against the enclosed, low-light feel that can affect catamaran interiors, keeping the rooms bright during the day.
A crew of 3 runs the yacht, covering sailing, service, and day-to-day operations for guests throughout the charter.
Onboard Amenities
The cockpit and mezzanine lounge double as Houbara’s main social spaces, with the open bar positioned to serve both areas without extra legwork for the crew. Deck space extends well beyond the cockpit, giving guests room to sunbathe or simply spread out during the day.
Air conditioning and Wi-Fi cover the yacht throughout, keeping guests comfortable in Mediterranean summer heat and connected when needed.
Cruising Performance
Houbara cruises at 9 knots and reaches a top speed of 18 knots, a performance profile typical of a cruising sailing catamaran of her size and weight. Twin diesel engines handle maneuvering and auxiliary power alongside her sail plan.
Her base in Sardinia puts her within easy reach of Corsica, the Tuscan coast, and the French Riviera in a single charter season, making her a practical option for guests planning a yacht charter in Italy or across multiple western Mediterranean destinations rather than staying anchored to one region.
Toys & Water Equipment
For water sports, Houbara carries a stand-up Jet Ski, a wakeboard, water skis, paddleboards, a towable donut, snorkeling gear, and scuba diving equipment, with a 5.5-meter Zodiac tender for trips ashore.
