About Kokomo
Kokomo is a 58.4m/191’7″ performance sloop built by Alloy Yachts in New Zealand in 2010 and refitted in 2018. At that length she is currently the biggest pedigree charter sloop on the market anywhere. Dubois drew her naval architecture and Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD) handled the interior, work that earned her the 2011 ShowBoats Design Award for Naval Architecture (Sailing Yachts) and the 2010 International Superyacht Society Award for Best Sail 40m+.
Note: this is the original Kokomo (2010, 58.4m), not the smaller Alloy Yachts sloop once known as “Kokomo II” and later renamed Favourite Child (51.7m), a separate vessel entirely.
Her rig, built by Southern Spars, rises 75 metres and flies what is widely believed to be the biggest asymmetric sail currently in charter service. A lifting keel drops her draft for shallow anchorages most yachts this size never get near. She carries 10 guests across 5 cabins with a crew of 10, a ratio that reflects how much rig and tender handling goes into running a sailing yacht of this scale.
Guest Accommodation
Kokomo sleeps up to 10 guests across 5 cabins: a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins, each finished in RWD’s clean, contemporary style. The layout works well for families and mixed groups chartering together, with enough separation between cabins for privacy during a multi-week itinerary.
Running her rig and tenders alongside full guest service takes a 10-person crew, a notable headcount for a sailing yacht this size.
Onboard Amenities
A foredeck jacuzzi gives guests a place to unwind away from the cockpit, and the open-plan social spaces extend up to flybridge-level seating with sea views on both sides. Wi-Fi connectivity and full air conditioning keep the yacht comfortable whether she’s cruising the Mediterranean or further afield.

Cruising Performance
Twin engines give Kokomo a cruising speed of around 13 knots under power, but her real performance story is under sail, where her towering rig and lifting keel let her cover long distances efficiently while still tucking into shallower anchorages than most yachts her size can manage.
Kokomo splits her year between the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter, and she also undertakes genuinely long-range positioning charters, including stops in Panama, Costa Rica, Polynesia and Fiji from August onward. That itinerary range is unusual even among large charter yachts and supports cruising in the South Pacific for guests chasing a season there.
Toys & Water Equipment
Kokomo carries one of the more extensive water toy inventories in her class, including two Laser Vago sailboats, inflatable kayaks and towables, waterskis, a wakeboard, stand-up paddleboards and fishing equipment. A dedicated anti-jellyfish swimming net lets guests swim off the stern without worry in warmer waters.
For diving, she carries a full scuba set-up with 8 dive tanks, and a 6.1m/20′ Hamilton Jet tender handles transfers and exploring nearby coves and beaches independently of the main yacht.
