About Mata Mua
Mata Mua is a 38.5m (126’4″) sailing yacht built in 1991 by Scheepswerf Friesland in Lemmer, the Netherlands, with naval architecture and exterior design by Diana Yacht Design. Launched as Colombaio Sun and later renamed Jasali, she was substantially refitted and relaunched under her current name in 2004, with a further refit completed in 2017. Her steel hull and aluminium superstructure carry a ketch rig built for genuine sailing performance rather than motor-assisted cruising.
The yacht’s interior, redone as part of the 2004 refit, was styled by Howard & Horsfield of H2 Yacht Design. Mata Mua accommodates up to 9 guests across 4 cabins and currently charters from a base in Palma de Mallorca, giving easy access to the Balearic Islands and the wider western Mediterranean.
Guest Accommodation
Four cabins sleep up to nine guests: a master suite, a VIP stateroom, one further double, and a twin that converts with a pullman berth for a third occupant. It’s a workable split for a family charter or a mixed group that needs some double and some twin sleeping arrangements. Running the boat is a crew of up to six; guests wanting a sense of who does what onboard can check this guide to crew roles.
Onboard Amenities
Air conditioning runs throughout the yacht, and her saloon and deck areas are arranged for both relaxed lounging and alfresco dining. The 2017 refit kept her amenities current while preserving the character of the earlier interior work.
Cruising Performance
Mata Mua carries a steel hull and aluminium superstructure and sits at 10 knots under power on a typical passage, with 12 knots available flat out. As a genuine ketch-rigged sailing yacht she also carries a substantial sail plan, and guests who want real time under canvas rather than motoring everywhere will find her a capable performer in the moderate-to-fresh breezes typical of a Balearics summer.
Toys & Water Equipment
Mata Mua carries a solid set of water toys for guests to use on charter, including a waterski, a wakeboard, two kayaks, scuba diving equipment, bikes, paddleboards, and snorkelling gear. A Narania jet tender handles transfers between the yacht and shore.
