About Cakiryildiz

Cakiryildiz is a 43 meters (141 feet) ketch-rigged gulet, built in 2014 by East Yachting in Bodrum, Turkey, with naval architecture by Akivades Design. Her hull is laminated mahogany and the interior is finished in teak, a contemporary treatment that steps up from the classic gulet aesthetic while keeping the traditional deck layout.

Ten guests sleep in five en suite cabins under a crew of six. Her standout feature is the entertainment setup, which is unusual for a gulet of her size. A Sonos music system runs through every cabin and common area, satellite TV is installed in each cabin and the salon, and a home cinema serves both the salon and the master cabin. She cruises the Turkish coast and the nearby Greek islands from early May to the end of October, based in Bodrum, Göcek and Kos.

Guest Accommodation

Cakiryildiz accommodates 10 guests in five en suite cabins. The master suite sits full beam aft, with a king-size bed, a large seating area and its own home cinema. Two twin cabins follow the master forward, and two further cabins forward of the salon have queen-size beds.

The layout suits mixed groups: couples can take the master and the queen cabins, while the twins keep a family group or friends group together without everyone sharing a space. Every cabin has an en suite bathroom, satellite TV and its own air conditioning control, so the temperature is set per cabin rather than across the whole yacht.

Onboard Amenities

Air conditioning runs throughout the guest areas, and Wi-Fi is available in Turkish waters, the standard caveat for gulets operating along this coast. The aft deck has a barbecue for outdoor cooking, and the foredeck adds further sunbathing space.

The entertainment package is the differentiator. A Sonos system covers every cabin and deck area, satellite TV is fitted in the salon and each guest cabin, and the home cinema is available in both the salon and the master suite. Film and music libraries are stocked onboard for guests who would rather not bring their own.

Cruising Performance

As a gulet, Cakiryildiz moves under both sail and engine. The ketch rig lets the crew make good progress under sail when the meltemi is running, while twin 600hp CAT C18 engines carry her at a cruising speed of around 12 knots on the days the wind is not.

Her season runs from early May to the end of October, with charters starting from Bodrum, Göcek or Kos. From there she works the Turkish coast, the bays around Bodrum, Datça, Selimiye, Marmaris, Fethiye and Göcek, and the Greek islands a short crossing away. The three different starting marinas give guests a choice of which side of the coastline to take on first, and a flexible week can move between them.

The 60hp tender is the practical item of the set. It gets a 10-guest group to the shore, to a moored position, or to a beach landing without waiting on the main engine, which matters on the crowded stretches of the Turkish coast.
